I learned the term “friendcatcher” in 2021. It was internet-minted in 2009 from a HackerNews comment. If you look closely it was first uttered by none other than @patio11’s mom. I have been working on a small repertoire of cocktails which always makes gatherings more fun and very much in the spirit of the word “friendcatcher”. (You know you were just punned right?)
The 3 cocktail books on my coffee table:

Featuring hundreds of recipes for signature Death & Co creations and classic drink formulas, Death & Co: Modern Classic Cocktails is not only a comprehensive collection of the bar's best, but also a complete cocktail education.
Cocktail Codex: Fundamentals, Formulas, Evolutions
Launched in October of 2018, and written by Alex Day, David Kaplan, Nick Fauchald and Devon Tarby, Cocktail Codex simplifies the complex cocktail universe, declaring that there are truly only six fundamental recipes at the root of them all: The Old-Fashioned, Martini, Daiquiri, Sidecar, Whisky Highball, and the Flip.
